COA Legal Standards Database

The North Carolina Court of Appeals recently adopted and published the North Carolina Court of Appeals Legal Standards Database, which is a collection of illustrative quotes from North Carolina case law on the various standards of review, legal tests, and general statements of law used at the Court. Although the Court cautions that this database is not meant to “provide the definitive statement of law for every appeal”, this document, which is over 60 pages long, should provide a useful starting point for any practitioner looking for a clear statement of the law applicable to his or her case.
